For everyone starting Veg Up on January 1st 2011... hi Sam and Em, I thought I'd experiment with getting you together on one thread, and hopefully there'll be a few others joining us overnight.

Veg Up

I'm leaping on myself because I want to up my raw food intake to 80% again, and I'm going to use Veg Up to help me do it. So I'll be with you this month and I'm looking forward to having some people to share motivation with. Thanks! I'm also really looking forward to getting back to my best health and I'm even hoping to get beyond the peak I reached last time.

On track
by: Sam

Well, I'm on track and feeling fine so far. Lucky I have other people in the house to eat all the holiday leftovers though.

Leftovers Temptation
by: Trina (GrowingRaw)

I know what you mean Sam - I ended up starting my NY resolution Brazilian time because I didn't want to waste the good cooked food that was leftover from visitors over the holidays. Right now I am majorly back on track and starting to create raw gourmet feasts to keep myself feeling full and happy.

Lunch was raw falafels made from almonds, sunflowers seeds, tahini and herbs (based on a recipe from therawfoodcoach ). I served it on a salad of kale cut into smallish pieces and rubbed with a little olive oil and salt to soften them, then some diced sundried tomatoes and finely sliced spring onion mixed through. Yum! And I really feel full and well taken of (by myself!)

Still Going Well
by: Sam

Sorry, haven't posted anything but I'm getting along really well. It's easy for me because there's so many fruit and veggies in season that I have lots of choice. I'm not sticking to the Veg Up recipes, I'm using my own depending on what's cheap at the markets.

Humming Along
by: Em

I'm humming along too, even though I don't have the advantage of so much seasonal produce. When I do follow the recipes it's a bit pricey actually, I'd recommend doing this in Summer or Fall. It's ok if you do your own salad recipes based on what you've got though. The sprouting has been a good tip, especially for Winter.

Reward
by: Em

Sam, forgot to ask what your halfway reward is going to be? I'm thinking about buying myself a beautiful glossy recipe book with heaps of inspiring veggie recipes in it.

Halfway
by: Sam

Halfway feels goooood...I mean really good!

I rewarded myself with a picnic lunch complete with fresh fruit and champagne. Beautiful! I really deserve it because I don't usually stick to diets this long. Not that this is strictly a diet but you know what I mean.

Well Done
by: Trina (GrowingRaw)

Sam, that's great, well done. I like how you're reward balanced out the naughty with the nice... Congratulations on sticking with Veg Up for more than two weeks! If you can get this far you can get to the end, that's for sure.
