1 Green Smoothie per Day

by Cheryl

I am in my mid 44 and have always been told that I look much younger than my age and I enjoy it. But lately I had a health challenge and have to be on a medication for an extended time. I found that from the medication I have been having skin breakouts, some weight gain and my eyes and skin are just not as gleaming as have been in the past and I just find I look and feel tired. So, I thought I would be a bit more proactive and try a green smoothie everyday to hopefully boost my health, clear my skin and see if it had any affect on my weight and enery level.

Still drinking my green smoothies after the Challenge
by: Anonymous

Hi Trina,

I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year. I am still drinking the green smoothies daily and enjoying them. I have not seen any weight loss, but that may be due to the medication I am on for a few more months. But I KNOW that I am doing good for my body.

Still Growing Strong
by: Anonymous

Still going strong on the green smoothies. I have found that I have been drinking 2 instead of my original challenge of 1 a day for the last couple of days.

I have noticed a bit of change in my skin/face. One of the areas that I felt I was just lacking the luster I had previously.

Last week we had an emergency and had to leave town at 1 AM. I forgot the smoothies that I put in the fridge and did not have them for the next day. When I got home a 2 days later, I drank 2 to make up :). Next time I will be more prepared and grab the smoothie the same way I grab my toothbrush.

Will keep you posted ;)

Best Blender
by: Trina (Growing Raw Health)

A good blender makes all the difference! I think my blender is the best blender for smoothies, I really miss it when I'm away from home for more than a few days. A good blender will enable you to get the job done quicker and clean up faster, as well as producing a finer green smoothie.

I discovered kale when I started eating raw food at the beginning of the year - before that I'd never even heard of it. I love using it in a salad but I massage the leaves in a little olive oil and salt first, then rub avocado into them. Yum! I've made the mistake once or twice of not checking the kale for aphids and other little bugs before I buy it. I can handle a few bugs no problems, but hundreds of bugs trapped in the curly leaves of kale take forever to wash out!

Doing Good
by: Anonymous

Hi Trina,

Things are going good. I am trying Kale for the first time! I think I need a new blender, my consistency is now more like grainy apple sauce. Either way I am drinking them with no problem. I am no way prepared to purchase a VitaMix, so I will probably have to find a mid-range blender. I went to the doctor to day and for the first time in 5 months I have actually maintained my weight instead of gained ;). I am not really doing this for weight, more for health, the weight loss is secondary, although some is needed. But the news was more of a confirmation that I am doing and being good to my body.

Loving the smoothies!

Day 3
by: Anonymous

LOL! Trina, I never said early... but I did jump out of bed.:)

Day 3, yesterday we were going out of town and woke up at 5:00 AM. REALLY, REALLY earlier than what I am used to. So what I did was make the smoothie the night before and put it in the fridge and drank it during my drive. My eating habit where not that great that day, the conference that we went to, included a contintential breakfast and prepared lunch. Either way I had the smoothing.

This morning I did not have a blender at the hotel so I just made one when I got home at 8PM, so that I would not miss a day.

Thanks for your feedback Trina. I will keep you informed.

You're on your way!
by: Trina (Growing Raw Health)

Sounds like you're off to a great start. I like how you couldn't wait to get out of bed - that's a skill I'm still working on!

Ripe bananas, mangoes and pears will sweeten up pretty much any greens you choose to use in your smoothie.

Day 1
by: Cheryl

I could hardly wait to wake up and try the smoothie. I wanted to make one last night, but it was really late and I am sure my neighbors wouldn't of appreciated it.

I made my first one with what I had in my kitchen. Romaine Lettuce and a McIntosh apple. When I was mixing it, I was really trying to bank on the idea that it was not going to taste like green sludge and the dominate taste would be the fruit and not taste like eating raw grass :).

I am happy to say that it was good! I know that I will have no problem drinking them now. So I am excited to see the effects.

Noticing Changes
by: Trina (Growing Raw Health)

Cheryl, it sounds like you'll be strongly motivated to stick with your green smoothie challenge. They really are great for skin, eyes, hair etc. It will be interesting to hear how soon you start to notice any changes. Good luck!
